What mindfulness is NOT

If you google "mindfulness", chances are you come across images such as this.

Mindfulness is so often misunderstood... People will try a mindfulness exercise and say, "It doesn't work! It only made me feel worse!". It is not actually supposed to make you feel better. It is not a relaxation technique, even though sometimes it leads to relaxation and if you practice regularly, over time you may experience greater peace.

If it started to rain or, better yet, snow, and that guy wouldn't budge keeping his dignified posture, it would have been a better representation of mindfulness. Because it is about being present with whatever life is sending your way right now. Not an easy task. Much more difficult than smiling to the sunrise, legs crossed.
